Berghaus Polarplus Jacket

Berghaus Says: Excellent warmth and insulation are provided by the recycled Polarteric Classic 300 heavyweight double sided fleece fabric.

We Say:  Exactly the same, this jacket is a warm and tough fleece, made with Polaretec 300 which is well reviewed. Personally I find too warm for walking in the Uk but it's great for the lunch stop on the hill. I bought this jacket in June but after trying it out once I realised it was well to warm for the summer. I got it back out the closet in November and I have used it ever since.This is a very good fleece for day to day use whether it be wondering the shops or heading out on the hill.

Montane Krypton Jacket

 

 

Montane says: The Krypton features a lightweight windproof outer shell with a fast wicking internal liner. Wear it over a baselayer and it will be effective high in the mountains or working hard on a cold winter run.

 

We say: I have been wearing the Montane Krypton Jacket now for three months. The Krypton is a tight-fitting slightly-insulated wicking lined windproof over a thin synthetic baselayer. I would advise active use in cool conditions when its not raining hard. I bought it because it was Montane and all my products so far from Montane have been excellent. I bought the medium size which weighs only 375g and is perfect to stuff away on a nice sunny day and pull out when its windy on the summit. As always with Montane sizes are a bit on the small size, essential to look at Montane size charts or try it on in store.

 

Overall I’ve really enjoyed using the Krypton. It is small and compact and easy to stuff into a small space in your rucksack. It is handy for that sudden downpour, good waterproofness and windproof. The lining is soft and comfortable against the skin and wicks moisture really well. The Krypton’s hood works particularly well, it really hugs the head and the wired peak provides great protection. At £80 I think it represents great value for money, especially when you compare it to many other soft shells out there.
